State Board of Canvassers in Michigan Votes to Certify the Vote. What Happens Next?

So far the year 2020 has been a barnburner full of manure that has aged a bit too long and there is no fire truck coming to put out that stank flame. Something similar can be said for the way Michigan went about this election cycle.

Oh, I know that you will have the Biden sycophants say that this was the freest, fairest election in all the land. Of course, that does not take into account all the issues that sprung up in Democratic strongholds around the state. Those issues will be vetted at some point after the inauguration and then those same people will feign shock at how it happened. Yet that is for another time possibly when the dust has actually settled from all the goings-on right now.

The Michigan Board of Canvassers met today as required by law to certify the election from Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020, and awarded Joe Biden the state’s 16 electoral votes. There are 4 board members and the vote was 3-0 with one Republican abstaining. This is how it went down according to Fox News

The bipartisan committee voted 3-0 in favor of certification. Board member Norman Shinkle, a Republican, opted to abstain from the vote while calling for an overhaul of the state’s elections procedures.

“I do not plan on voting for certification,” Shinkle said in his final statement ahead of the vote. “I believe Wayne County’s certification process needs to be looked at. I think there’s serious problems with it.”

President-elect Joe Biden secured a projected victory in Michigan earlier this month en route to surpassing the 270 electoral vote threshold required to take the White House. However, President Trump has yet to concede the race and his campaign attorneys have alleged fraud and voting irregularities in Michigan and other states.

The Trump campaign pledged to continue its legal fight in Michigan and other states.

“Certification by state officials is simply a procedural step,” Trump campaign senior legal adviser Jenna Ellis said in a statement. “We are going to continue combatting election fraud around the country as we fight to count all the legal votes. Americans must be assured that the final results are fair and legitimate.”

Jenna is correct that this is a procedural step but it is a pretty big one. The next phase here in Michigan aside from any legal challenges is the meeting to choose those electors to travel to Washington D.C. on December 14th to vote for Joe Biden as the winner here. That is just a mere 21 days from now so time is very short to turn the tide here with the state laws as they are.

My colleague Shipwreckedcrew over at Red State has a very interesting piece today that calls out that the Trump team has a great chance of correcting errors in Georgia right now in his latest post The Trump Campaign Has a Very Real Chance to Overturn the Election Result in Georgia. He calls out Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin as the places that state law gives the Trump legal team more maneuvering room. While I’m not as familiar with those states as I am with Michigan, I do know that the mess that is the old-style Democratic mystery vote turnout here will take a bit more time to smoke out and Michigan law is not as forgiving as Georiga after reading Ships post.

Unless Team Trump has someone come out with a video of something crazy happening, Michigan probably is not the best place to use resources at this moment going forward being time is of the essence.

Don’t get this confused though that I think nothing bad happened here. The ludicrous argument that there was no voter fraud here will be shown to be as shallow as a kiddie pool in the summer here in the Great Lake State. However, I predict a year from now, the evidence will be clear that shenanigans once again happened in many counties run by Democrats and their excuses will smell just as bad as that barn full of manure burning on a warm summer day.

What that means is, it will smell pretty bad.
