Collins: Trump ‘angered by impeachment’


Democrats have argued the steps are signals of Trump feeling emboldened following staying acquitted by the Senate. 



Collins explained to CBS News past 7 days that she considered Trump had figured out from the impeachment combat. 

“The president has been impeached. That’s a pretty massive lesson. I am voting to acquit mainly because I do not believe that that the behavior alleged reaches the higher bar in the constitution for overturning an election, and taking away a duly elected president,” Collins stated.

Pressed on why she considered Trump had learned a little something, Collins additional, “He was impeached. And there has been criticism by equally Republican and Democratic senators of his contact. I consider that he will be substantially extra careful in the long term.” 


Collins later on walked that again, telling Fox News on Wednesday following the impeachment votes that her hope that Trump had discovered a lesson was “additional aspirational on my aspect.”

“It’s additional that I hope that he’s listened to the a lot of voices in the Senate who have pointed out that the call was incredibly problematic,” she said.
