A red SUV horrifically plowed full speed into a Christmas parade in a Milwaukee suburb on Sunday evening killing at least five and wounding over 40 followed by a depraved journalist taking a dig at Kyle Rittenhouse.

Chris Wiggins, who describes himself as a ” CBS 6 alum,” unbelievably tweeted not once but twice his biased sentiments even as the dead were being counted in the street, “It’s okay. The driver in Waukesha was afraid for his life and defending himself from the unarmed holiday crowd. That’s Wisconsin law now.”

He tweeted the comments again in response to a CNN tweet about the breaking news.

Wiggins went on to tweet, “The right wingers are pretty triggered right now.”

Meanwhile, authorities struggled with the mass-casualty event in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The vehicle reportedly struck more than 20 adults and children at high speed. Waukesha Police Chief Dan Thompson reported fatalities at a press conference, according to Fox 6 of Milwaukee. Injuries and casualty numbers could change and will be discussed at another briefing on Monday.

“Oh my God!” one woman screamed repeatedly during a viral video, after a group of girls in Santa Claus hats and waving white pompoms were hit by the vehicle. Another video shows members of a marching band being struck, according to The Associated Press. People rushed to help those who were struck by the SUV.

“There were pompoms and shoes and spilled hot chocolate everywhere,” Corey Montiho, a Waukesha school board member and parent told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel in an interview. “I had to go from one crumpled body to the other to find my daughter. My wife and two daughters were almost hit. Please pray for everybody. Please pray.”

Gunshots were also allegedly heard during the incident. Authorities stated that they may have come from a police officer who was trying to stop the SUV as it rammed the parade participants and onlookers, according to the AP. No one was injured by gunfire.

Among those who were hurt during the attack were reportedly Catholic school children, a priest, and multiple parishioners.

The Milwaukee Dancing Grannies were also impacted by the event. “Please keep the Grannies, all those injured, and all those who witnessed this horrible event in your thoughts and prayers,” they wrote on Facebook.

The red Ford Escape from the crash was recovered and a person of interest was taken into custody.

Journalist Karol Markowicz tweeted that according to court documents, 39-year-old Darrell Edward Brooks Jr. was arrested and taken into custody as a suspect in the attack.

Though no one has been named by law enforcement in the incident, social media sleuths pointed to Brooks as the man in custody.

According to NewsOne:

Markowicz, the journalist who tweeted that Brooks was in custody, also tweeted what she claimed was proof he was the suspect: a link to a page on the Wisconsin Circuit Court website showing an active court case for Brooks, which indicated a person with that same name had been released from jail on $1,000 cash bond earlier this month for the alleged offenses of resisting or obstructing an officer and two counts of domestic abuse (misdemeanors) as well as bail jumping and 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety, both felonies.

The Waukesha attack occurred approximately 55 miles north of Kenosha. A separate march was held on Sunday in the same location by those protesting the verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial.
