Amid all the serious reports and directives being given in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, people around the globe are trying to find new ways to cope while in self-isolation.
But the reality, it seems, is that many people in this virtually-connected society have no idea what to do with themselves once they’ve been left to their own devices for more than a day. Nowhere is that reality more evident than in celebrity posts of their not-so-glamorous quarantine experiences.
In fact, many stars seem to be coming out of their own skin after being cooped up in their million-dollar homes for an extended time. And the rest of us who wonder how to entertain restless children or find at least one roll of toilet paper somewhere look on in astonishment, probably thinking these celebrities should just stay quarantined.
Rapper Cardi B chronicled her daily meltdown in profanity-filled rants about handling “social distancing” and dealing with cabin fever.
“Government, let me tell y’all motherf**kers something: I don’t know what the f*ck this coronavirus is about. I don’t understand how that sh*t was from Wuhan, China, now all of a sudden this sh*t is on motherf**king tour,” the rapper told her Instagram followers last week. “I ain’t gonna front: a b*tch is scared. I’m a little scared. Sh*t got me panicking.”
Her impassioned videos sparked viral memes and a week later, she vented her boredom and frustration at the Pentagon.
“I need to know what’s going on,” the 27-year-old star said in an Instagram live video.

“If you work at the f***ing Pentagon, let a b**ch know,” she demanded. “Cuz I need to know. I need to f***ing know. I know you could tell but I’m losing my f***ing mind. I wanna get dressed up. I want to put a f***ing lace front on. I want to put on my expensive outfits. And I want to go f***ing out. And I can’t!” she railed.
English singer, songwriter, and four-time Grammy winner Sam Smith posted a timeline of photos that showed the “stages of a quarantine meltdown.”
Though there were plenty who empathized, many roasted Smith for looking for sympathy.
Nothing hurts more than being a millionaire in a mansion with nothing to do . Sending prayers to Sam Smith https://t.co/YxqIyXPKgT

Sam Smith has to be the single most annoying human being on this planet.
You have a £12million mansion. Donate some money to the fight instead of posting pics of you crying amidst the lap of luxury, you twat. https://t.co/7QaFrV1ycN

If Smith’s meltdown was not cringe-worthy enough, another award-winning singer raised some eyebrows with her #quarantine video singing about… fried fish?

Madonna’s odd ditty earned plenty of head-scratching responses.

Conservative actor James Woods did not appear to be suffering from self-isolation woes, but he did share a very creative video from someone with way too much free time.

Other celebrities earned ridicule for their collaborative effort in a call for a world with no borders, a message shared from their privileged perches of stardom.

Of course, some celebrities have found a way to put their political pontificating aside for a few moments and just be real, doing their part to ease the long hours spent in this new altered reality. Josh Gad, the voice actor of Olaf from Disney’s “Frozen,” has taken to Twitter to tell bedtime stories to children – and adults – every night.

As one would expect from a voice actor, the story-times are highly entertaining.
