CNN’s Brian Stelter was slammed for his ridiculous take on the violent protests unfolding in parts of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The “Reliable Sources” host was called out in scathing comments by Dan Bongino and Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld among others for a segment focused on President Donald Trump’s tweets in light of the violent unrest unfolding in the city following the death of George Floyd.

“We’re going to see the president resort to his typical techniques of sowing this kind of chaos and division,” Stelter said, referring to tweets by the president on the situation in Minneapolis.

Trump set off liberal outrage when he rightfully slammed the violence, calling out those torching buildings and looting as “thugs” and giving critics an excuse to attack and blame him for the unrest.

“These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!” Trump wrote and Twitter chose to flag.

Stelter went on to accuse the president of being “late on this situation all week long,” claiming he was “late” to react to the disturbing video of Floyd during the arrest which showed white officer, Derek Chauvin, pressing his knee against the neck of an unarmed black man who repeatedly said he could not breathe.

Chauvin has been arrested after he and the other three officers involved were fired following Floyd’s death, which set off a wave of violent protests and rioting in the city.

“We are way past the point where the president should be weighing in for the first time on these matters,” Stelter continued to rant.

“Amid all this, you have to wonder, if you live in Minneapolis right now, do you feel any better seeing the President of the United States talk the way he’s talking on Twitter?” Stelter wondered.

His tone-deaf comment came moments after he noted that “it is clear there are fires and looted stores and broken windows, and other disturbances in multiple neighborhoods” of Minneapolis.

Conservative commentator and radio show host Dan Bongino roasted Stelter for his pointless take on Minnesota residents even caring about Trump’s tweets after coming out of the coronavirus pandemic and being thrust into violent unrest.

“Brian Stelter wakes up in the morning wondering how he can make the world worse,” the former U.S. Secret Service agent tweeted.

“He lies incessantly in order to please his CNN bosses. He’s been caught in lies both big & small,” he added. “Nothing he says here is true, he’s only saying it to aggravate the situation.”

Fox News’ Gutfeld also called Stelter out, tweeting: “to be this blindly stupid to think citizens of Minneapolis are more disturbed by Trump’s tweets than their own city destroyed by rioters. thoughts like this are convenient, far from the destruction.”

Twitter users chimed in with their agreement.
